Buildings use 40 percent of energy in developed countries- we’re trying to change that, one building at a time. For years, ASHRAE has sought ways to help move the nation’s building stock toward net-zero-energy use. But how can that be done without knowing exactly how much energy each building uses? The new Building Energy Quotient program seeks the answers to that question. With metrics for measuring both the energy the building is designed to use and the energy actually being consumed, this program can help us to close the gaps between intention and operation. Now in its pilot phase, the Building Energy Quotient labeling program is coming soon in its full form – hopefully, to a building near you. |
